In the Complete Arcane, the Class warmage comes with the Armored Mage (Light) bonus feat. With the feat Battle Caster (also in the Complete Arcane), this is improved to Armored Mage (Medium). Taking your Idea for Mithril Full plate, you could theoretically use Full plate at 2nd level, after spending a level in Fighter (or other class of your choice with armor proficiency in Medium) for the necessary proficencies of armor, or you could stick with Warmage up to level 8, at which time he aquires the Armored Mage (Medium), and medium armor proficencies
