Talk:Amazon, Variant (5e Race)

I welcome any advice on how to improve this race, as long as it still fits with their aesthetic and lore!007

1. Look at the Musicus Meter, it is an excellent means for creating balanced races, utilizing a point-build system.
2. Standard racial ability score bonuses are one +1 and one +2, and ability score penalties are never used. With the Musicus Meter, negative ability score modifiers have no benefit.
3. Assuming that the "An Uncivilised Life" racial trait replicates the benefits of the tough feat and you do not want them to stack, simply give your race the tough feat at level 1.
4. The "Amazonian Arsenal" trait should be removed, as weapon proficiencies are provided by class choice.
5. The "Superior Nightvision" trait doesn't fit with the flavor too well, and I think it should go.
6. This race appears to be clearly overpowered, unfortunately. Expertise in two skills, straight up advantage on four very common skill rolls, twelve different weapon proficiencies, and a feat? I'm not going to calculate it right now, but this race's Muscius Score is around 10 or higher, while the accepted maximum for a well-made race is 8. Simply put, there are too many features. Trim it down, and remember that class choice will supply most of the stuff you can cut.
When you do start cutting stuff out, start with the weapon proficiency(Amazonian Arsenal), expertise(Savage Beauty) and the advantages(Daughters of the Forest) features. The feat inclusion is quite cool, and I think that that should stay. You will definitely want to rework the stat bonuses, because yours are unconventional. All around, you've got a good vision, but not good balance yet. Consult the Musicus Meter and rebalance, and you should be all good!
Good luck fixing it up all nice! Tazerbot3000 (talk) 12:23, 15 January 2020 (MST)
