Talk:Alastor (5e Equipment)

Here are just some of the few problems with this weapon

  • What does +2 represent?
  • No weapon should have an effect that requires a saving throw to be made on every hit and does a weapon that has its own source of power deal additional damage based on your Wisdom modifier
  • You should use either your existing spell save DC if the item requires attunement by a spellcaster or a static DC(16, ect)
  • Why does this weapon has an extremely odd way to attune it? How do you know whether you are worthy and not just randomly struck by lightning bolts when you pick this up? Items also shouldn't overtly punish the PC for no reason.--Blobby383b (talk) 10:58, 6 May 2018 (MDT)

I simplified this weapon by quite a bit. The attunement process, while unique, wasn't interesting enough to go with how weak the rest of the weapon is, so I removed it. I buffed the lightning damage die to d6, but removed the wis mod added to the damage. I added the option to use more charges to increase the spell level of lightning bolt. I moved the weapon down to Rare status, from legendary. as it's a +1 weapon with additional lightning damage. One could make the argument for Very Rare, as well.

It may be cool to give it more charges and give other lightning spells, such as shocking grasp, as well. Of course, you would want to increase the charge cost for lightning bolt.
