I have rewritten this article and tried to improve it. If cursed items are not allowed to change a character's race or gender, i would suggest that the character at the end stage of the curse, if male, commits suicide out of shame and if female, starts to masquerade as a drow and is overtaken by the priestess as described, but without changing her race. However, i think the item is now fine, since all the effects can be reversed and there aren't any such complaints in the case of similar, even more permanent, cursed items.
