Talk:Action Points (5e Variant Rule)

I would like to sugest an alternative form for that rule: All creatures gain 25 Action Points (AP) at the start of their turns: Movement / Standard Action: 10 AP's; Bonus Action: 5 AP's (up to 2/per turn); Reaction: 1 AP for the first reaction, 2 for the second (+1 point of Exahaustion), 4 for the third (+1 point of Exahaustion)... (DEX Modifier [Minimun 1])/per round). --GALNERIVS (talk) 13:31, 1 November 2024 (UTC)

Well it has been a very long time since I have even thought about this variant rule. My play group has moved away from 5e (and d&d in general), I even wrote my own game. Since writing this rule though I have done some serious in depth analysis of 5e and I do believe some changes are in order to this rule. --Takeo the wolf (talk) 15:36, 1 November 2024 (MDT)

I have made some changes. It should be good now. I did not incorporate making more reactions for gaining exhaustion because that's simply too heavy of a cost. I do think there is room for being able to make more reactions though, it would feel nice to get some good use of fighters psychic subclass from Tasha's from having more reactions to defend your teammates. But as proposed it's not viable. Perhaps a feat that allows dex modifier divided by 2 (rounded up) reactions, then a sister feat that does the same but with intelligence? --Takeo the wolf (talk) 16:35, 1 November 2024 (MDT)
