Sworn Foe (Replaces Favored Enemy)[edit]

This 1st-level feature replaces both the Favored Enemy and the Natural Explorer feature. You gain no benefit from the replaced feature and don't qualify for anything in the game that requires it.

You have a deep hatred for a certain type of creature, and made a vow to destroy all creatures of a chosen kind. This vow must be in response to the character suffering a great loss at the claws of the chosen creature kind. A great loss might include the death of a loved one, the loss of all material wealth, the destruction of a prized family heirloom, or something similar.

You gain the Animosity and Determination benefits below, and you gain an additional benefit when you reach 6th level and 10th level in this class.

Animosity

Beginning at 1st level, you have significant experience studying, tracking, hunting, and even talking to a certain type of enemy commonly encountered in the wilds.

Choose a type of favored enemy, such as beasts, fey, humanoids, monstrosities, etc. If you choose humanoids, choose two specific types of humanoid instead. you have advantage on Wisdom (Survival) checks to track your favored enemies, as well as on Intelligence checks to recall information about them.

Determination

Also at 1st level, you add your Wisdom modifier (minimum +1) as a bonus to all your saving throws made to resist spells and harmful effects made by your favored enemy.

At 6th level, you have advantage on saving throws against effects from your nemesis.

Nemesis (6th level)

At 6th level, you have a more specific target for your hate. Choose subtype of creature from your chosen Favored Enemy, such as fiend (demon) or undead (shapechanger) to become your Nemesis. You deal additional 1d6 damage on all attacks made against creatures with the type and subtype of your rage.

In addition, you can always sense the presence of this creature within 60 feet, as if you had blindsight.

Slayer Strike (10th level)

At 10th level, you can attempt to instantly kill your Nemesis. When you hit a nemesis with a weapon attack, you can attempt to slay it on a single strike. You must declare a slayer strike before making the attack. On a hit, the attack causes the normal effects, and if the target is reduced to an amount of hit points equal to 5 x your Ranger level or lower, it is instantly killed.

You can't use this feature again until you finish a long rest.
