Swordsoul

The Swordsoul subclass for sorcerers focuses on the fusion of swordsmanship and arcane magic, resulting from generations of selective breeding and training to become weapons themselves. These sorcerers have a unique ability where their very soul has taken the form of a blade, granting them enhanced combat skills and specialized magical powers, albeit at the cost of some of their ancestral magic. As a Soulblade, you have honed your skills to become a formidable warrior-mage on the battlefield.

Soul Weapon

At 1st level, your connection to your soul blade allows you to summon it as a magical weapon. As a bonus action, you can summon a magical blade, which lasts until you dismiss it (no action required), you are incapacitated, or you die. The blade takes the form of any martial melee weapon of your choice. You can use your spell attack bonus for attacks with it. The weapon also causes force damage, rather than the regular damage type for this weapon.

Additionally, your soul weapon counts as a spellcasting focus for your sorcerer spells.

Blade Mastery

Also at 1st level, your extensive training in swordsmanship enhances your combat skills. While wielding your soul weapon, you gain a +1 on attacks and damage rolls and as a bonus to your AC.

Furthermore, you can use your reaction to impose disadvantage on an attack roll made against you by a creature within 5 feet of you. You can use this feature a number of times equal to your Charisma modifier (minimum of once), and you regain all expended uses when you finish a long rest.

Arcane Blade Surge

At 6th level, your connection to your soul blade allows you to channel raw magical energy through your strikes. When you hit a creature with your soul weapon, you can can deal an additional 2d6 force damage. The damage increases to 3d6 at 11th level and 4d6 at 17th level.

You can use this feature a number of times equal to your Charisma modifier (minimum of once), and you can't use this feature gain until you you finish a long rest, unless you spend 2 sorcery points to do so again.

Additionally, you gain resistance to force damage while your soul weapon is summoned.

Blade Ward

At 14th level, your soul blade protects you from harm, serving as a supernatural shield. While your soul weapon is summoned, you have resistance to bludgeoning, piercing, and slashing damage from nonmagical weapons.

Additionally, you gain advantage on saving throws against being charmed or frightened.

Soul Severance

At 18th level, your soul blade has evolved to the point where it can rend the very essence of your foes. When you hit a creature with your soul weapon, you can spend 5 sorcery points to force the target to make a Constitution saving throw against your sorcerer spell save DC. On a failed save, the target's soul is severed, causing it to die, being reduced to 0 hit points. On a success, the soul is momentarily severed, rendering it incapacitated until the end of your next turn.

Once you use this feature, you can't use it again until you finish a long rest.
