Swordsman[edit]

Come, friend, let's have a duel.
Class Traits
Role: Striker.
Power Source: Martial.
Key Abilities: Dexterity, Charisma
Armor Proficiencies: Cloth, leather
Weapon Proficiencies: Simple and martial light blades and heavy blades
Bonus to Defense: +2 Reflex
Hit Points at 1st Level: 14 + Constitution score
Hit Points per Level Gained: 6
Healing Surges per Day: 7 + Constitution modifier
Trained Skills: Intimidate.  From the class skills list below, choose 3 more trained skills at 1st level.
Class Skills: Acrobatics, Athletics, Bluff, Diplomacy, Endurance
Build Options: Duelist
Class Features: Riposte, Reflexive Parry, Sword Challenge

Swordsmen are very noble and try to keep the battle between them and their enemy fair.

Characteristics: Fair, noble
Religion: Any or none
Races: Humans, halflings, and eladrin

Creating a Swordsman[edit]

The duelist build is an aristocrat who pushes and chases enemies.

Duelist[edit]
Suggested Feat: Dueling hand* (Human Feat: Toughness)
Suggested Skills: Acrobatics, Intimidate, Bluff, Diplomacy
Suggested At-Will Powers: Duelist's Strike, Feint (Human Power: Lunging Stab)
Suggested Encounter Power: Dazzling Blade
Suggested Daily Power: Dueling Opportunity

Swordsman Class Features[edit]

All swordsmen share these class features.

Riposte: You have the Riposte power.

Reflexive Parry: When you wield a weapon you are proficient with in one hand, and your other hand is empty, you gain a +1 bonus to AC.

Sword Challenge: Choose either Dueling Challenge or (more to come) at first level. You gain this power.

Powers[edit]

A swordsman's powers are called exploits and are quick and powerful. A list can be found Swordsman Powers (4e Power List).
