Fighter Archetype
A swordmaster pledges themself to the way of the blade, swearing to uphold the honor of combat with the most noble of weapons. Though some take these teachings for personal gain, slicing away all their enemies, the ideal swordmaster is one so skilled and at peace that they strive to avoid fighting altogether and that which they do is finished in as few strikes as possible.
- Path of the Blade
When you choose this subclass at 3rd level you dedicate yourself to the use of the sword. While wielding a melee weapon without the two-handed or heavy property and not wielding a shield, your weapon attacks score a critical hit on a roll of 19 or 20.
In addition, if you are wearing light armor or no armor, your AC increases by 2 and your movement speed increases by 5 feet.
- Single Kill Strike
At 7th level, whenever you perform a critical hit with a weapon attack made using a melee weapon that lacks the heavy or two-handed property, you roll the damage die of the weapon three times, instead of two.
- Swordmaster's Grace
Also at 7th level, your movements become gracious and refined. You add half your proficiency bonus in all Dexterity checks that don't already add your proficiency.
In addition, you gain proficiency in Dexterity saving throws.
- Ambushing Strike
Beginning at 10th level, when an enemy within 5 feet makes an attack against you while you have are wielding a melee weapon that lacks the heavy or two-handed property, you can use your reaction and perform a single attack against it before the enemy’s attack.
- Perfect Form
At 15th level, wielding a melee weapon without the two-handed or heavy property and not wielding a shield, your weapon attacks score a critical hit on a roll of 18-20.
In addition, if you are wearing light armor or no armor, your AC increases by 4 (instead of 2) and you deal 2 additional points of damage on your attacks with melee weapons.
- Star Sword
When you reach the 18th level, whenever you make take the Attack action, you can use your bonus action to take the Attack action again on your turn. Once you use this feature, you can't use it again until you finish a short or a long rest.
