The Stylist[edit]

Artificer Specialist

Some say beauty comes from the inside, but a stylist does not take risks in that regard. They are extremely adept at creating magical garb, enchanting makeup and bewitching hairdos. Preferring to use their skill in the affluent and overzealous parts of life, any noble would pay exorbitant amounts to hire a stylist in their midst. While some stylists prefer the cushy lifestyle of a rich expert, some decide to go search the world for new patterns, hues or aromatics. Though stylists usually prefer to resolve matters peacefully, when the situation calls for it they will take up arms, and look dashing while doing so.

Tools of the Trade

When you adopt this specialization at 3rd level, you gain proficiency with weaver's tools or the disguise kit. If you already have these proficiencies, you gain proficiency with one other type of artisan's tools of your choice. You can also use a disguise kit as a spellcasting focus for your artificer spells.

Stylist Spells

Starting at 3rd level, you always have certain spells prepared after you reach particular levels in this class, as shown in the Stylist Spells table. These spells count as artificer spells for you, but they don’t count against the number of artificer spells you prepare.

Artificer Level Spell
3rd fog cloud, feather fall
5th web, detect thoughts
9th stinking cloud, fly
13th polymorph, fabricate
17th greater restoration, cloudkill
Magical Makeover

Also at 3rd level, you can cast disguise self at will or as a ritual when holding weaver's tools or a disguise kit. When cast as a ritual it gains a range of touch and lasts a number of hours equal to your intelligence modifier (minimum of 1 hour).

Also as part of a short or long rest you can give one willing creature a makeover using weaver's tools or a disguise kit. That creature gains a bonus to Charisma checks and saving throws equal to your intelligence modifier (minimum of +1) until the next dawn or whenever you use this feature again.

Spellweaving

At 5th level you learn to weave spells with weapons, stitching your foes to their clothes and preventing their movement. When casting a spell as your action you may take the attack action as a bonus action. The target of your weapon attack has their movement speed halved until the start of your next turn. (This feature is designed to work with extra attack)

Fortified Fashion

At 9th level you can attune to and enchant one article of clothing you are wearing turning it into a magic garb. While wearing the magic garb you gain one of the following benefits of your choice:

  • You gain a +1 bonus to AC and saving throws.
  • Your walking speed increases by 15 feet.
  • You descend 60 feet per round and take no damage from falling.

Only one article of clothing can be modified in this way. However, you can spend a long rest to change the enchantment and/or the magic garb.

Later on at 12th level you gain one of the other benefits of your choice (for a total of 2) while wearing the magic garb.

Functional Fragrances

At 15th level you have learned how to use aromatics in ways exceeding your prior expectations.

  • You are always considered styled as in your 3rd level Magical Makeover feature, gaining a bonus to Charisma checks and saving throws equal to your intelligence modifier (minimum of +1).
  • You can cast the spell incendiary cloud once without using a spell slot provided you use weaver's tools or a disguise kit as the spellcasting focus. When cast this way it does not require concentration but lasts for it's full duration matching the spell's description. Once you cast this spell with this feature, you can't cast it again until you finish a long rest.
