The size and height of the Strigoi vary, with some being on average the size of a human, small as a child, or even taller than the mightiest lahtoa, while these often stem from their roles in society, their knack for adaptation is a trait that has served them incredibly well. Along with their shapes, sizes, and colors, the diversity shown by the strigoi is near all encompassing. In no other race on all of Griseos has their power to shape themselves to any situation ever managed to be replicated by any one species. Making them the most successful organism on the planet itself.

History[edit]

On the very bottom of the Grisaean racial hierarchy are the strigoi, an insectoid species of humanoids descended from ancient escaped slaves who broke away from the concordat several years ago. Once being a collective of enslaved people, they are now united in an all encompassing hive structures on the edge of the concordat in the sprawling jungles of the north, leading a brutal guerrilla campaign against their former slavers. Strigoi are despised by Grisaean society. Seen as little more than mindless savages, even less than animals, if spotted more will more than likely attempt to kill them on sight though this sentiment does not falter on the side of thestrigoi.

Society[edit]

Without the shackles of the Concordat or the Communion to keep them down, the strigoi have managed to maintain a level of societal hegemony thought incapable of them before. Kings and Queens serve a central power believed to be the avatar and manifestation of the insectoid deity known only as 'the hunger'. Under this Kings and Queens direct thousands of warriors, who in turn direct the focus of their hundreds of thousands drones, workers, and foragers. In essence strigoi society functions very much like a hive, operating in a manner much like that of eusocial insects, with the exception of their independent minds. Strigoi are, despite their strict zealous adherence to their societal structure, capable of being free independent thinkers.

This eusocial hierarchy is split into five distinct courts, each one representing an important facet and function of strigoi society. These being the 'Black Court' which are responsible for the continued protection and rulership of the strigoi hive. The 'White Court' which strengthens itself in the art of diplomatic relations and takes upon the roles of caretakers within their hives. The 'Red Court' which prides itself on powerful legions of warriors, a warrior society that breeds, trains, and creates the greatest warriors of the strigoi. The 'Yellow Court' which prides itself in the creation of abominable and terrifying monstrosities to be set against their enemies. And the 'Divine Court' which is the court of the strigoi Avatars, living manifestations of their gods and their supreme authorities. Together these five courts unite to make an inexorable and mighty force against those who would encroach upon them.
