The straight-tusked elephant is a behemoth even among its kin. Known to the scholarly as palaeoloxodon, the straight-tusked elephant inhabits vast grasslands scouring them for food. These goliaths fight using their massive girth and long tusks. Many experts say they are the largest natural mammal on land.
