The spell creates a magical barrier around the target which draws in dispelling attempts. Any targeted dispel attempt made against the affected creature (or an object held by an affected creature) is made against spell barrier instead.
An area dispel effect automatically targets spell barrier first. If the dispel check fails to dispel spell barrier it does not go on to progressively weaker spells.
Alternatively you may prepare spell barrier on the next spell you cast. Doing so grants it a +6 against attempts to counterspell it.
Material Component: An unbraided piece of rope and a braided peice of twine.
