Inside, a mechanism is located in the shaft that fires out ammunition. Special Upon using a bonus action to click the button, the blade of the shaft opens, and you may target any creature within the thrown range property. You must then make an attack. On a hit, the target takes 1d8 piercing damage. Afterwards, if you want the spear to reload, you must use an action to reload the shaft to place an arrow inside the shaft. You must have an arrow to reload this weapon. Additionally, if you have a + in the arrow, you may add that plus to the attack and damage rolls.
