Long ago, the gnome race looked upon the shapechangers of the Feywild and the natural world with envy. Deception and guile are among the most valued traits in that particular race, so the ability to change one's form to confound and amaze was invaluable, not to mention the (severely lacking for your standard gnome) physical strength it would provide. So a few adventurous gnomes sought out one who could give them such power. Eventually they did, gaining the ability to take on a form resembling that most cunning of lupines, the fox; but at a terrible cost. Now outcasts, Smalltooth Shifters, as they became known, lost their natural invisibility and in return were 'gifted' a sense of kleptomania of the highest degree. As such, Smalltooth Shifters seek to gain positions of power in the world, seeking to exact revenge upon all beasts, sentient or otherwise, while collecting a few shinies along the way.
Physical Qualities[edit]
While looking almost identical to Gnomes, Smalltooth Shifters pride themselves on their facial hair, similar to dwarves, and females wear their hair very long, with the nobility having servants with specially made pillows to carry around their gargantuan braids like bridal trains.
Attitudes and Beliefs[edit]
Smalltooth Shifters have a firm belief that whoever made it the top of the ladder, be it political or social, deserves to be there, no matter how they got there. They look down on monarchies and those that abide by them, with special hatred reserved for dwarves, due to ancient grudges held by the mountain dwellers.
Smalltooth Shifter Communities[edit]
Smalltooth Shifters live among other races with similarly loose moral standards to them, and are drawn towards guilds and other such establishments.
Smalltooth Shifter Adventurers[edit]
Smalltooth Shifters adventure on crusades against beasts and their ilk (with the only exception being other Smalltooth Shifters), to break the social bonds presented by members of the race, or to amass more treasure
Rogue: Smalltooth Shifter rogues are masters of guile, toppling kingdoms and 'borrowing' valuables with equal ease
Ranger: Despite preferring towering cityscapes to endless treelines, some Smalltooth Shifters return to their Feywild roots to live a life of beast hunting and solidarity
Warlock: Just like the first of their kind, Longtooth Shifters are experts and negotiating pacts and utilizing the power they entail
