Sludge Kin[edit]

Physical Description[edit]

These creatures have a humanoid form, but are fluid and appear to be made of solid gel. They often hold onto a form they simply like, but they tend to change shape at a whim. They are often the color of their ancestor, but with those that come from Gelatinous Cubes, they can be an assortment of colors.

Usually, they prefer a "regular" or "default" as their humanoid parent or ancestor. Their weight becomes less, but not (relatively) severe. Usually about ten to thirty pounds lighter than the base race. As height goes, they usually maintain a similar height in the default form. With hair like ooze, it is darker and behaves somewhat akin to hair. It is darker than the rest of their body.

They wear clothes made of actual cloth to blend in with "non-viscous", as they say, or solid humanoids.

They do not leave slime trails since they are attuned to holding a humanoid shape and have strong tendencies towards their base or parent race's form. They often dislike intense cold as they feel freezing temperatures easily, however they are not weak to them. They just feel uncomfortable with them. On the other hand, they usually enjoy warm temperatures and environments.

History[edit]

The details of how the sludge Kin were created are almost nil, many historians point out that they were created after a conflict on a global scale between the gods on the material plane, either to be soldiers of some deity or some resource of a deity. However, the alchemy community and the wizarding community claim that they are the derivative of some kind of elder oblex which abruptly mutated creating this race. The fact that they are in danger of extinction and that none of the specimens of this breed know which of the many theories is correct makes these creatures that much more enigmatic.

These creatures are composed of a strange liquid which can take on both highly healing and harmful properties, making them an invaluable resource for any alchemist or wizard, as this liquid is one of the main components for making the best healing potions that can be found on the existence, and also of the most powerful acids existing.

These qualities make Sludge Kin very valuable resources, and for that reason they are so hunted that they are in danger of extinction. Their reproductive methods don't help either, as they are completely dependent on humanoids to multiply. Until only two reproduction methods are known that this breed has. The first is through reproduction with other humanoid races. The Sludge Kin have reproductive organs almost the same as humans, and they are also divided between male and female. The gestation of a Sludge Kin is almost the same in all aspects to that of humans, with the only difference that no matter what race the Sludge Kin breeds with, it will always produce a Sludge Kin. The second method of reproduction is through the ingestion of some powerful humanoid. On rare occasions, when a female Sludge Kin devours a deceased humanoid that had a lot of power in life, there is a small chance that this ingested humanoid will be reborn as a Sludge Kin with some of the power that the humanoid had in life, but at the cost of of losing the vast majority of the memories of his past life.

Society[edit]

The Sludge Kin have not had any type of organized society, due to their small number. In addition, they tend to be solitary creatures that try to survive as long as possible to hide from the non-slimy so that they do not try to hunt them, although they do get involved in the societies of other races taking their culture and tradition, so a Sludge Kin It will be defined only by the society and race with which they live, although there are rare cases of sludge Kin that were raised in the wild and act like beasts, following the same patterns and instincts of a specific type of animal.
