Shar-Kissed Creature (3.5e Template)
From D&D Wiki
Having witnessed the gifts Lolth gave her chosen few, the Mistress of the Night was not to be outdone. As such, she, too, has begun leaving her mark upon various creatures that catch her attention. Unlike the more martial beings of the Spider Queen, however, Shar's kiss bestows those so-blessed with the ability to shield themselves from scrying eyes and a greater understanding of spycraft.
Note that this is a toned-down variant of the Lolth-Touched template from Monster Manual IV influenced by the Vecna-Blooded template found in Monster Manual V. Despite arguably being less powerful than Lolth-Touched, the level adjustment was increased to +2 for balance reasons mostly due to the addition of Hide in Plain Sight.
Creating a Shar-Kissed Creature
"Shar-kissed" is an inherited or acquired template that can be added to any corporeal living creature (referred to hereafter as the base creature).
A Shar-kissed creature gains a bonus feat at 5 HD and again at every 5 HD thereafter, chosen from the following list if they otherwise meet the prerequisites: Blind-Fight, Craven, Darkstalker, Deceitful, Divine Defiance, Imperious Command, Insidious Magic, Magical Aptitude, Martial Stance, Martial Study (Shadow Hand only), Master of Poisons, Pernicious Magic, Persuasive, Shadow Weave Magic, Spell Focus (Enchantment, Evil, Illusion, or Necromancy only), Stealthy, Tenacious Magic, Urban Stealth.
A Shar-kissed creature has all the special qualities of the base creature, plus the following special quality.
Hide in Plain Sight (Su): At 6 HD, a Shar-kissed creature can use the Hide skill even while being observed. As long as it is within 10 feet of some sort of shadow, including its own shadow, the Shar-kissed creature can hide itself from view in the open without having anything to actually hide behind as a move-equivalent action.
Veil of Secrecy (Su): A Shar-kissed creature is immune to all divination spells or divination-like effects used in order to learn information about it or items in its possession, or to see through any disguise they have assumed through the use of illusions or shadow weave magic. Such magic simply fails to reveal any information, or can be made to reveal false information similar to the spell false vision at the Shar-kissed creature's discretion. Furthermore, the Shar-kissed creature automatically becomes aware of any such attempt to observe them through magical means. If the caster fails on a passive caster level check (DC of 15 + the Shar-kissed creature's HD), the Shar-kissed creature learns the name, appearance, and general location of the caster who attempted the divination.
Additionally, all knowledge of the Shar-kissed creature fades from the world upon gaining this template. Its original name, its deeds before becoming Shar-kissed, and so forth, disappear from memory. Only Shar and the Shar-kissed creature retain this knowledge, and Shar is bound by her own magic, unable to share it with anyone lest her own dark secrets be revealed to all.
Same as the base creature +2.
The creature's alignment remains unchanged.
