Freeze (Shapeless Form Only). If the shapeless takes cold damage, it partially freezes; its speed is reduced by 20 feet until the end of its next turn.

Shapechanger. The shapeless can use its action to polymorph into a Small or Medium humanoid it has seen, or back into its true form. Its statistics, other than its size, are the same in each form. Any equipment it is wearing or carrying isn't transformed. It reverts to its true form if it dies.

Underwater Camouflage (Shapeless Form Only). The shapeless has advantage on Dexterity (Stealth) checks made while underwater.

Water Form (Shapeless Form Only). The shapeless can enter a hostile creature's space and stop there. It can move through a space as narrow as 1 inch wide without squeezing.


Claw (Shapeless Form Only). Melee Weapon Attack: +5 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 5 (1d4 + 3) slashing damage and the target is grappled (escape DC 10). Until this grapple ends, the shapeless can't make claw attacks against other targets.

Dagger. Melee or Ranged Weapon Attack: +5 to hit, reach 5 ft. or range 20/60 ft., one target. Hit: 5 (1d4 + 3) piercing damage.

Hook and Chain. Melee or Ranged Weapon Attack: +5 to hit, reach 5 ft. or range 10/30 ft., one target. Hit: 5 (1d4 + 3) piercing damage. If the target is a Large or smaller creature, it must succeed on a Strength contest against the merrow or be pulled up to 15 feet toward the shapeless.

Shortbow. Ranged Weapon Attack: +5 to hit, range 80/320 ft., one target. Hit: 6 (1d6 + 3) piercing damage.


Fade (3/Day). When the shapeless takes damage from a weapon attack, it makes a Dexterity saving throw with a DC of 15 or 10 + the damage taken, whichever is higher. On a successful save, it takes no damage. On a failed save, it takes half as much damage.

Hunting is a foreign concept to the shapeless, as they have no need for food, but when they have to defend themselves, they rely on their rangers. A shapeless ranger's main weapon is a hook attached to a long chain which can be used to pull enemies into the water, where other shapeless can surround them.
