Physical Description[edit]
Shadow-born, also known as qweldint, or "shadow elves," are humanoids with elven features, like arched brows, high, refined structure, and pointed ears. Their skin tones range from ashen charcoal to pale white but not tan of any sort, and their hair is usually a dark black to a white with some showing colors of red. Only identified differently by the royal traits or the lilac blood that they have.
History[edit]
Shadow-borns are the descendants of elves who were exiled from the world for their beliefs or ideals. They were similar to drow and believed in Lolth for a while, but a lesser god of shadows revealed itself attempting to lead some astray. The god broke them from the reign of Lolth and coerced them into forming a pact. This pact can be seen dominate throughout royalty of the shadow-born with distinct features such as horns or marks.
Society[edit]
Shadow-born is born into a class system based on what their highest-ranked parent was. From the Royals down to commoners, The royal group of the shadow-born are seen with distinct features such as small horns, a skin tone of blueish or reddish grey to white, or a mark by their god of some sort typically in the shape of a crescent moon on their forehead. These royals are known to have "blessings" from their god in exchange for their appearance. The more their bloodline dwindles from their god the more like regular elves they look.
Shadowborn Names[edit]
Most shadow born follow the common elven names as they have been passed down through their culture.
Male: Vandrin, Lorik, Qirith
Female: Ciel, Nyal, Venessa
Shadowborn Traits[edit]
Ability Score Increase. Your Dexterity score increases by 1. You cannot increase an ability score over 20 with this trait.
Shadow's Comfort. You feel more at home in the shadows and find it easier to hide in them. When you make a Stealth check while you are in darkness, you can roll with advantage.
Shadowless. From the realm of shadow, one becomes one with their shadow. You do not cast a shadow.
Shadow's Mark. At 3rd level, you can cast hunter's mark without expending a spell slot. When you cast this spell via this trait, the additional damage is changed to necrotic. You can use this trait once, regaining use after you finish a long rest.
