Shadow Veil (5e Subclass)
Shadow Veil[edit]
Rogues of the Shadow Veil blur the line between the material and the darkness. By harnessing the power of shadows, they become masters of stealth, mobility, and deadly precision.
Cloak of Shadows[edit]
At 3rd level, you can shroud yourself in shadows to become unseen. As a bonus action, you can become invisible until the start of your next turn or until you attack, cast a spell, or are in an area of bright light. While invisible in this way, your next attack made during the same turn has advantage.
You can use this feature a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus, and you regain all expended uses when you finish a long rest.
Shadowborne[edit]
Also, at 3rd level, your connection to shadow grants you supernatural resilience and mobility. You gain resistance to necrotic damage.
In dim light or darkness, shadows respond to your presence. When you or a creature within 30 feet of you falls, you can use your reaction to call on the shadows to slow their descent, as if under the effect of the Feather Fall spell. This ability allows the affected creature(s) to fall safely without taking damage and glide horizontally up to 10 feet for every 10 feet they fall.
Umbral Blades[edit]
At 9th level, you summon two magical daggers forged from pure shadow. These daggers deal 1d6 necrotic damage instead of piercing damage and count as magical for the purpose of overcoming resistance and immunity to nonmagical attacks.
You can summon or dismiss these blades as a bonus action, and only you can wield them. These blades work with Sneak Attack if you meet the normal requirements.
At 13th level, the damage of the daggers increases to 1d8, and at 17th level, it increases to 1d10.
Shadow Move[edit]
At 13th level, you can harness the shadows to teleport short distances. You can cast the Misty Step spell without using a spell slot or components, provided the destination is in dim light or darkness.
You can use this feature a number of times equal to your Dexterity modifier (minimum of once), and you regain all expended uses when you finish a long rest.
