Dark Amorphousness. The shadow soldier can fit through a space as narrow as 1 inch without squeezing as long as both it and the space are in dim light or darkness.

ACTIONS

Multiattack. The shadow soldier makes two attacks with Shadow Greatsword or Shadow Spear, only one of which may be with its Strength Drain.

Shadow Greatsword. Melee Weapon Attack: +8 to hit, reach 10 ft., one target. Hit: 18 (4d6 + 4) slashing damage plus 5 (1d10) necrotic damage.

Shadow Spear. Melee or Ranged Weapon Attack: +8 to hit, reach 10 ft. or range 20/60 ft., one target. Hit: 18 (2d6 + 4) piercing damage plus 5 (1d10) necrotic damage.

Battle Cry (Recharge 5-6). The shadow soldier releases a terrible shriek, then chooses up to five other shadow soldiers it can see within 60 feet of it that can hear it. Each of those shadow soldiers can use their reaction to make a melee weapon attack.

Strength Drain. Melee Weapon Attack: +8 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 12 (2d8 + 4) necrotic damage, and the target's Strength score is reduced by 1d4. The target dies if this reduces its Strength to 0. Otherwise, the reduction lasts until the target finishes a short or long rest.

Shadow Ball (3/Day). The shadow soldier releases a shadow ball that bursts into a 30-foot cone. The shadow soldier has to succeed a 17 Strength saving throw to handle the strength of the blast or take 22 (4d10) necrotic damage and the shadow ball dissipates. On a success each creature in that area must make a DC 18 Constitution saving throw. On a successful save, a creature takes 44 (8d10) necrotic damage and is pushed 30 feet away from the shadow soldier. On a failed save, a creature takes half as much damage and isn't pushed.

BONUS ACTIONS

Shadow Stealth. While in dim light or darkness, the shadow soldier takes the Hide action.


Fifth rank shadow soldiers are so rare that many dismiss them as legend, said to be created when a fourth rank shadow soldier of unusual ability is transformed by powerful magic. These beings can fire orbs of shadowy energy from their bodies with such force that those struck by them are hurled away.
