Shadow Dragon Bloodline (5e Subclass)
Shadow Dragon Bloodline[edit]
Sorcerer Subclass
Your innate magic comes from shadowfell corrupted draconic power that was mingled with your blood or that of your ancestors. Most often, sorcerers with this origin trace their descent back to a mighty sorcerer of ancient times who made a bargain with a shadow dragon or who might even have claimed a shadow dragon parent. Any given sorcerer could be the first of a new bloodline, as a result of a pact or some other exceptional circumstance.
Aspect of Destruction
At 1st level, the shadowy might of your draconic bloodline begins to manifest itself physically. Using a bonus action, you take on aspects of a shadow dragon as you activate a draconic visage of necrotic destruction around your body that lasts for 1 minute. You choose the appearance of this form in accordance with your shadow dragon bloodline. While in this form, your AC equals 13 + your dexterity modifier. Any spell you cast that deals fire damage while in this form deals necrotic damage instead, taking on the properties of the black flames breathed by your shadow dragon ancestors. In addition, your fists radiate shadowy, black flame. Your unarmed attacks, which you are proficient with while in this form, deal 1d6 necrotic damage and use your charisma modifier for attack and damage rolls. You can also make 1 additional unarmed attacked with your other hand using a bonus action on your turn.
This damage increases by 1d6 when you reach 5th level (2d6), 11th level (3d6), and 17th level (4d6).
You can use this feature a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus.
Aura of Shadows
At 6th level, you gain a greater understanding of your bloodline abilities. While in your Aspect of Destruction form, the shadowy aura that surrounds you begins to affect your immediate surroundings. Attack rolls from creatures within 5 feet of you are rolled with disadvantage. In addition, being within 5 feet of a creature no longer imposes disadvantage on spell attacks which you cast, and any cantrips you cast which deal fire damage (changed to necrotic damage while in this form) add your charisma bonus to the damage roll.
Shadow Supremacy
At 14th level, your Aspect of Destruction form increases in power. You can now add your charisma bonus to the previous AC you received from this form. Additionally, any spell you cast which deals necrotic damage (including those which previously dealt fire damage that are converted by this form) deal an additional 1d10 damage of the same type. This bonus can only be applied to one damage roll per spell. Furthermore, your unarmed attacks in this form now cause your opponent to tremble in fear. When hit by an unarmed attack from this form, a creature must succeed on a Wisdom saving throw with a DC equal to your spell save. On a fail, the creature's speed is reduced to 0 as it trembles in fear, and all of its attacks are dealt with disadvantage, regardless of its target.
