Unlike its larger, saber-toothed cousin, the scimitar-toothed cat is not an apex predator. In fact, they are often subordinate to saber-toothed tigers, though with excellent endurance to make up for their comparatively more slender limbs, they are certainly still efficient predators. Unlike the ambush hunting saber-tooths, scimitar-toothed cats prefer to run prey down or mob in packs, including elephant and mammoth calves, which they then portion out with their extremely sharp, powerful teeth before taking it to their dens to be eaten away from the prying eyes of more powerful predators.
