School of Borrowing[edit]

Wizard Subclass

By choosing this school, you choose to specialize in disrupting the casting ability of other creatures and buffing your own. This disruption is done through the "borrowing" of spell slots from other spellcaster creatures.

Slot Stealing

At 2nd level, as an action, you can use your arcane focus to steal spell slots from any creature with spellcasting ability. Force a creature you can see within 60 feet to make a Wisdom saving throw. On a failed save, the target loses a spell slot and you regain a spell slot from the same level. The maximum level of spell slots you are able to steal equals half your proficiency bonus (rounded up).

You can use this feature a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus, and regain your uses after finishing a long rest.

Slot Thief

At 6th level, you can better steal spells. When stealing spell slots, you can now steal spell slots with a level equal to your proficiency bonus.

Counter Theft

At 6th level, you gain knowledge of how spells work and how you are able to steal them. You add counterspell to your spellbook, if you don't already have it.

In addition, whenever you successfully counter a spell, you can steal the spell you counter, if it is from a level you are able to steal. Doing so causes you to regain the slot spent when casting that spell, up to your Slot Thief maximum.

Slot Recycling

At 10th level, you can take expended spell slots from a creature. Whenever a creature cast a spell that requires an attack against you and misses, or you succeed a save against a spell, you can steal the slot spent to cast said spell, up to your Slot Thief maximum.

Share the Wealth

At 14th level, the spell slots you have stolen can be transferred to willing creatures. Whenever you steal a spell slot, you can choose to not regain a spell slot yourself to allow another creature within 30 feet to regain it.
