Sanguine Scion[edit]

Sorcerer Subclass

Dark magic dwells within your very blood, invigorating your spells with otherworldly ardor. You could be descended from an ancient line of vampires. You might have fallen victim to the arcane experimentations of an evil mage. Or perhaps your biology has been changed by your enthrallment to a fiend. Whatever made you this way has instilled in you a hunger for power that cannot be sated.

Bloodstone

When you choose this origin at 1st Level, you can use an action to spend any number of your Hit Dice to create a Bloodstone, a red crystal that floats in the palm of your hand and functions as a focus for your sorcerer spells. It is a Tiny object with an AC of 10 + your Dexterity modifier + your Constitution modifier, and an amount of Hit Points equal to the total number rolled on your Hit Dice + your Constitution modifier. For every 20 Hit Points your Bloodstone has, you gain a +1 bonus to your spell attack modifier and your spell save DC while using it as a focus. You may wield only one Bloodstone at a time and it dissipates when you take a long rest.

Whenever you deal damage to a creature with an attack, you may use your reaction to absorb the creature's life essence, drawing their blood into your Bloodstone and increasing it's Hit Points by an amount equal to the damage dealt by the attack. Creatures that do not have blood are immune to this ability.

You may also use a bonus action to Consume your Bloodstone, destroying it and giving yourself or an ally you can see within 30ft of you temporary Hit Points equal to the Bloodstone's Hit Points. You cannot create another Bloodstone until you finish a long rest.

Clot

At 1st Level, you gain influence over the blood of your enemies. Whenever you or an ally become the target of an attack by a creature you can see within 60ft of you, you can use your reaction to force the attacker to make a Constitution saving throw against your spell save DC. If the creature succeeds, you cannot use this ability on them again until you finish a long rest. On a failure, the creature has disadvantage on the triggering attack. If you attempt to use this ability on a creature that has no blood, the attempt automatically fails. You may use this ability a number of times equal to your Charisma modifier, and regain all spent uses when you finish a long rest.

Acrimony

Your passion for cruelty emboldens your attacks. Beginning at 6th Level, whenever you deal damage to a target with a spell you cast using your Bloodstone, you may spend any number of your Hit Dice to deal additional necrotic damage equal to the number rolled.

Blood Puppet

When you reach 14th Level, death is no longer an escape from your wrath. Whenever you kill a creature with an attack, you can use a bonus action on the same turn to destroy your Bloodstone and suffuse it's power into their lifeless body, turning them into your Blood Puppet. The creature's corpse gains a number of Hit Points equal to the Bloodstone's Hit Points and stands to attention, ready for battle. While your Blood Puppet is within 60ft of you, you may use a bonus action on each of your turns to command it to use it's movement, one of it's attacks, or both. If your Blood Puppet is more than 60ft away from you or reaches 0 Hit Points, or if you are incapacitated, fall unconscious, die or take a long rest, the creature becomes lifeless once again.

Rivers Run Red

At 18th Level, your fervor is unmatched. If you start a combat encounter and you have already consumed your Bloodstone, you may create another Bloodstone. You may also Consume your Bloodstone as a reaction, instead of as a bonus action.
