These beings are believed to have sprung from the lair of the fire archoelemental, Imix of Hellfire. As a primordial who despised the gods, he made the salamanders, firenewts, and many creatures to fight on his behalf. They were all like fire, burning on in battle until extinguished, never to retreat.

Physical Qualities[edit]
Salamanders have a long, serpentine body and tail, with the upper torso, arms and head of a humanoid. When moving, they stand between 5½ and 6½ feet tall, weighing around 120-130 lbs. They are covered in mottled skin, in bright fiery reds, yellows and oranges. Some have spikes which cover various parts of their body. These vary in shape from being jagged and just on their arms and tail, to more dangerous looking ones down their backs, or even long, horn-like spines.
Playing a Salamander[edit]
Salamanders are short-tempered, driven and aggressive. Yet many have a code of honour and give respect where they feel it is due. They fear little and are quick to answer insults or threats. They prefer to face their lives head on, caring little for subtlety or the feelings of others. To others they can appear reckless and callous. Their greatest mastery lies with weapons, and they are known for their innovations and insightful strategies.

Salamander Adventurers[edit]
Three sample salamander adventurers are described below.
Actar Grosh is a Salamander Ranger, was summoned to the Material Plane to aid a Blacksmith, who, after spending some time with the young Salamander, grew a bond with each other, and took him on as his "son". After a few years, Actar's town was besieged by orcs, from the Neckcrusher clan. The village was burnt down, and half the village was killed, including his adopted "Father." The rest that were not killed were kidnapped. Actar, along with another survivor, broke free from the orcs imprisonment. To this day, Actar still hunts the orcs, not just from the Neckcrusher clan, but from every clan as well.
Coniead is a salamander rogue working among a platoon of firenewts to take a human citadel and burn it to the ground. He is largely disinterested in these activities and has grown disillusioned with the ways of Imix. He has seen metals which do not bow to fire, and spirit which is not consumed. These are the things he wants, and so he is just hard-headed enough to flee his responsibilities and pursue those.
Grasha is a salamander wizard that fervently believes magic is the way which will bring Imix the destruction he so craves from the world. She sees herself as an extension of his will, her knowledge a gift of his. However, she was not selected to be one of his warlocks, and this began to plant a seed of doubt in her heart against the evil fire god.
