You create a phylactery by killing an innocent. The caster must kill a person of the same type and size as themselves (ie. an elf must kill an elf) for the sole purpose of this spell. The caster must cast the spell and has 10 minutes to kill the target to finish the spell. Once it is done, the body is preserved for one month per caster level. At any point after, if the caster dies, their body is instantly destroyed. The sacrificial corpse is then burnt away, and the caster is reborn at the location of the corpse.
This spell can only be cast once a month.
Only one corpse can be used an any time, casting this spell a second time renders the first casting void.
Casting this spell is an unholy, evil act. Anyone of neutral alignment attempting to cast this spell has a 40% chance of it failing, and anyone of a good alignment that uses this spell has a 75% chance of spell failure. Any person of evil alignment that is benefiting from this spell cannot hide their alignment.
