Rubber Human[edit]
“ | As long as I got my elasticity... I'm invincible! | ” |
—Reynar, rubber human assassin |
Physical Description[edit]
From Diner by Takanori Kawai and Yumeaki Hirayama |
Rubber humans are humanoids with grotesquely twisted features. They are known to have thick, rubbery skin and a very thin, flexible body. Despite their thinness, their bodies are very supple and durable, able to do contortionist feats and also compress their muscle into a thinner, lithe form. Some rubber humans have horn-like extrusions on their heads, making them appear demonic. Their bodies often appear emaciated and without flesh, with sunken cheeks and eyes. The thick skin that covers their bodies is similar to that of kevlar, but it requires certain fluids to remain elastic enough for rubber humans to protect themselves. Rubber humans therefore have a special tongue that allows them to suck blood from other creatures, which allows them to better retain their elastic bodies. As such, rubber humans are mistakenly called humans for their shape, but they are much more horrific in many ways, and have vampiric tendencies.
To disguise their true abilities of durability, rubber humans will usually wear clothes that conceal their skin. When people hit them, expecting them to be fragile, they are then surprised. Rubber humans tend to wear clothing that is baggy to also hide their true stature. Some rubber humans prefer to be as naked as possible, showing off their emaciated bodies to trick attackers into a sense of security.
History[edit]
It is said rubber humans are the result of a deal with unsavory forces gone awry. The desire to be invincible changed the human parts of the dealmakers into something else. They lost that old body of rigid bones and fragile skin, becoming something other. This body required sustenance of the forbidden to be used to its fullest, being blood. Their own biology changed to something else as well, with blood that was very thick and viscous. Rubber humans are thought to be an offshoot of vampires, and the creation of one is supposedly a bastardized vampire. Unlike vampires, rubber humans are not weakened by sunlight. However, their bodies do poorly in the cold, as it reduces their elasticity and makes them brittle.
Society[edit]
Because of their grotesque tendencies and appearance, rubber humans are not really welcome anywhere save for equally unsavory places, like dens of depravity and towns of other evils. While not quintessentially evil, the needs of rubber humans ultimately push them to do harm to other humanoids to sustain themselves, and they are rather selfish, usually. On account of their aversion to cold, rubber humans prefer to frequent temperate areas, particularly where they can secure a blood source safely. Rubber humans are aware of the rejection of the world against them, and this pushes many of them into darker pursuits.
Rubber Human Names[edit]
Usually, rubber humans have names like that of humans. As of recent, they have adopted Infernal names to take up a devilish association due to their appearance, though this is seen as a bit of a fad.

Rubber Human Traits[edit]
Humanoids of strange biology that ended up with elastic bodies in need of blood
Ability Score Increase. Your Dexterity score increases by 2 and one other score of your choice increases by 1.
Age. Rubber humans reach adulthood in their late teens and live less than a century as a result of their changed biology. They are rarely bothered by this, and like to spend their lives living as they please.
Alignment. Because of their bodily needs, it is hard for rubber humans not to resort to illegal deeds or seem ghastly. They reciprocate against society's ostracization and thus many of them are evil.
Size. Most rubber humans are around 5 to 6 feet tall. They are very thin and gaunt, weighing lighter than average humans. Your size is Medium.
Speed. Your base walking speed is 30 feet.
Tongue Drain. Your bladed tongue is a weapon you use to siphon blood to nourish yourself. If a willing, paralyzed, charmed, incapacitated, restrained, or grappled, creature within 5 feet of you has blood, you may use your bonus action to Tongue Drain them, dealing 1d6 piercing damage and draining their blood, dealing additional necrotic damage equal to your Constitution modifier.
Kevlar Body. As an action, you can release the latent and powerful elasticity of your body to overcome physical damage. Until the end of your next turn, you are resistant to nonmagical bludgeoning, piercing, and slashing damage. You can use this trait a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus, regaining all uses when you finish a long rest. You cannot use this trait if you have not drank blood as per your Tongue Drain within the last 24 hours.
Flexible. You are able to play contortionist pretty well. You easily fit into spaces more suited for Tiny creatures, and can squeeze without needing an ability check, though you still have a movement penalty, and whatever you are wearing will not be able to go with you. You are also proficient in the Athletics skill.
Cold Fearing. You have disadvantage on saving throws against cold damage. Additionally, if you are hit by cold damage, you cannot benefit from your Flexible and Kevlar Body traits for 1 minute.
Inhuman Appearance. You have advantage on Charisma checks to pass yourself off as a devil or demon due to your grotesque appearance.
Languages. You can speak, read, and write Common and either Infernal or one other language of your choice.
