Non-spellcasters may use Rem-kha commoner magic (see below).
Khopesh is not considered an exotic weapon but included in the martial weapon proficiency list.

Rem-kha Commoner Magic[edit]

This is magic practiced by those having no levels in a spellcasting class, and usually by commoners. It usually takes the form of a personal ritual lasting at least 1 hour. These rituals are rarely effective, and have mild or slowly occurring effects.

To determine success use this formula:

D20 + CL + KA or KD = ??

Being a D20 + total character level (commoner levels do not count) + knowledge arcane or knowledge divine (which ever is higher) to determine check result. The DC for the check is determined by the formula:

SL + 3d10 + 10 = ??

Which is the desired results spell level (always use a base spell for the desired effect) + random factors + base of 10.

For example, Khenu, a 3rd level commoner wishes to charm his neighbor, Tesla, into liking him. Commoners in Spyre are considered to have Rank 4 in Knowledge Arcane and Divine. He performs a ritual and the DM rolls a 14 for his check. He does not add any of his commoner levels, but does add 4 from his skills, using only the highest. His total is 18. The DC is based off Charm a 1st level spell (1) + the DM rolls 6 on the 3d10 + 10 = 17, the spell succeeds!

The results of common magic are not identical to the base spell (the duration, etc) and do not always take effect immediately. Some may take effect weeks, months, or even years after the commoner has performed the spell. Largely the success or method of success from such spells are up to DM discretion. Ideally, these effects should be mild, slow in coming, and those effects seeking to cause change in others should be easily thrown off. For example, Tesla may indeed fall in love with Khenu, but this is against her will (he cast a spell on her) and she may be consciously in love with him but unconsciously torn against him, causing the love affair to be tumultuous at best.

Ultimately, it is the DM’s discretion if the low magic is successful and how.
