=== The Norse Gods ===
The Vikings of the archipelago worship the Norse gods, and dream of one day reaching Valhalla upon death. The Norse pantheon includes two main families, the Aesir (deities of war and destiny) and the Vanir (gods of fertility and prosperity). Once enemies, these two families are now closely allied against their common enemies, the giants (including the gods Surtur and Thrym).
Their gods are as follows:
Odin[edit]
The All Father, King of the Aesir, and ruler of Asgard. Odin is the god of knowledge and war, often seen flanked by his crows Huning and Muning, Though and Memory. His symbol is a watching blue eye.
Thor[edit]
Wielder of Mjolnir, god of storms and thunder, bane of giants, and one of Asgard's strongest warriors. He is described as having two goats, which he kills and eats every night, and are revived every day. His symbol is Mjolnir, his hammer.
Loki[edit]
The half-jotun trickster, god of thieves and inventor of lies, and symbol to all those who cause mischief and chaos. His symbol is the serpent, but he can also be associated with the flame.
Njord[edit]
Ruler of the seas and winds, inventor of the longship, and patron of fishermen. He assists all who sail across the vast blue expanses of the world. His symbol is the golden coin.
Frey[edit]
Patron of spring, god of fertility and sunlight, and the farmer's favorite deity. Him, alongside his sister Freya, rule over Folkvanger, the Vanir equivalent of Asgard. His symbol is an ice-blue greatsword.
Freya[edit]
Sister to Frey, erstwhile ruler of Folkvanger, goddess of fertility and love, and owner of many giant cats. Her and her brother Frey rule over Folkvanger. Her symbol is the falcon.
Frigga[edit]
Wife of Odin, Queen of Asgard, goddess of birth and motherhood, and keeper of balance in Asgard. Alongside her husband Odin, they rule over Asgard. Her symbol is the cat.
Heimdall[edit]
Guardian of the Bifrost, eternal watcher of the Nine Realms, and god of watchfullness. He will one day sound the horn that announces Ragnarok to Asgard. His symbol is the musical horn.
Tyr[edit]
God of courage, patron of one on one duels, and a warriors most respected deity, Tyr's word is what made duels sacred. He once befriend, and later lost a hand to, the great wolf Fenrir. His symbol is the sword.
Aegir[edit]
The jotun of the sea, creator of rough waters and sea storms, and bane of all sailors. He sinks the boats of men, and his wife Ran collects the souls of the drowned. His symbol is the ocean waves.
