Quartarrasque[edit]

A Quarter-Tarrasque, or a Quartarrasque for short, is one of the many descendants of a legendary monster called the Tarrasque

Physical Description[edit]

Though they are indeed humanoids, with an appropriate number of arms, legs, and facial features which, depending on the individual, could range from homely to gorgeous, a Quartarrasque is defined by its monstrous body parts. True to their legendary monstrous ancestor, a Quartarrasque bears a spiny shell upon their back, twin horns jutting upwards and forwards, thick scales coating their muscular limbs, sharp claws upon their hands and feet, and a long, powerful tail.

History[edit]

In a world of history and mystery far from the ones you may know and love, one of the many great evils who rose to power in the world was Gavotta, emperor of the Sixth Demonite Empire and the son of a Tiefling bard and a Tarrasque. To expand his influence, he formed political marriages with countless women, and each one bore one of his children, a quarter-tarrasque, or Quartarrasque for short. These children, though they all shared a father, bore enough genetic diversity that they could reproduce safely with each other, and eventually Quartarrasques became a full-fledged species of their own, serving Gavotta as leaders in his army, and eventually becoming an uncommon yet widespread sight in their own world. When the Sixth Demonite Empire finally collapsed, gates appeared across the world Gavotta had deemed to conquer, and Quartarrasques aplenty were whisked away across the countless iterations of the multiverse for reasons unknown.

Attitudes and Beliefs[edit]

Quartarrasques are almost universally proud of their strength and bodies, and enjoy work that makes use of it such as fighting, demolition or construction, etc. As such, Quartarrasques will attempt to make themselves widely known, whether by performing great deeds of heroism or villainy. Modesty is of little importance to them as they like to show off, though they recognize it disturbs other races and so wear clothes that reveal the parts they are most proud of. Rarely, a Quartarrasque is born and raised in a society with no regard for strength, and in these environments, a Quartarrasque may grow sullen and distant or lash out in frustration.

Quartarrasque Names[edit]

The names of a Quartarrasque are as varied and flexible as the peoples who they are born to, but are usually somewhat short.

Male: Lucien, Keithan, Neyl, Kenga, Kraus

Female: Lenore, Anna, Flo, Bonnie, Mira

Silt Quartarrasque[edit]

Gavotta's children with smaller, fairer races such as gnomes, fairies, and halflings. The second most common form of Quartarrasque, they served as Gavotta's diplomats and nobles due to their less threatening appearance than their spinier cousins.
Ability Score Increase. Your Charisma score increases by 1, but the maximum scores for your Strength and Constitution ability scores become 20.
Small for a Giant. Your height and weight modifiers are inverted, meaning you subtract them from the base height and weight of a Quartarrasque instead of add, and count as a Medium creature.

Smooth Talker. You gain proficiency in Persuasion.

Stone Quartarrasque[edit]

Gavotta's children with ordinary and above-average races such as humans, goliaths, and elfs. They are the most common form of Quartarrasque, and served Gavotta as lieutenants due to their natural gifts of strength and ferocity.
Ability Score Increase. One score of your choice besides Strength or Constitution increases by 1.
Brace. As a bonus action, you enter a defensive stance by putting your shell between yourself and enemies, increasing your AC by 1 until you move more than 10 feet on a turn.
False Multiattack. When you hit a target with a melee attack, you can use your bonus action to make an unarmed strike on the same target using your tail, horns, or claws. You cannot use your claws if both hands are full.

Hellstone Quartarrasque[edit]

Gavotta's children with races of exotic heritages such as tieflings, dragonborn, and genasi. They are the rarest form of Quartarrasque, and often accompanied Gavotta's highest commanders as bodyguards due to the monstrous powers brought about by their other parent's special blood rekindling Gavotta's Tarrasque blood.
Ability Score Increase. Your Strength or Constitution increases by 1. The ability score you chose increases its maximum to 22.
Tarrasque's Resistance. You gain resistance to fire damage and have advantage on saving throws against being paralyzed if you chose to increase your Strength, or you gain resistance to poison damage and advantage on saving throws against being poisoned if you chose to increase your Constitution.
Refractive Carapace. When you are targeted by a magic missile spell, a line spell, or a spell that requires a ranged attack roll by a creature whose CR (or level) is equal to your level or lower, roll a d20. On a 20, you are unaffected.
