Purpleborn (5e Race)
From D&D Wiki
Purpleborn[edit]
Physical Description[edit]
As the name suggests, purpleborns are purple humanoid. Nevertheless it is possible that the skintone varies from pink to purple or even blue. If they have hair, it often is black or dark brown. Even beard growth is possible. Their eye color mostly is blue, but every imaginable color can be found. Purpleborns are almost larger and more muscular in build than humans, but this depends on the subrace. Humankins are often as large as humans, half-orc-kins and dragonkins are bigger and heavier.

History[edit]
The first purpleborns were made by a mad alchemist that tried to make halforcs more powerful. He infused very toxic substances, which granted them a blue or purple skintone. Their new strange look made them rejected by society. So they started to create their own society. In the later centuries, because of different opinions how they should finally live, they splitted up in three groups, which ended up in three different subraces.
Humankin: These are the smartest and most civilized purpleborns. They live in human society and would be able to create cities and kingdoms by themselves.
Half-Orc-kin: These are though and wild. They live for the battlefield exactly like their orcish ancestors. Often together with orcs. That is not really a society, but absolutely that, what the alchemist wanted. However, usually they are much smarter than Orcs.
Dragonkin: These ended up with dragons. It really was a hard time for them. Few escaped from the dragons and are now looking for safety in the human civilization. The next generations had draconic wings, claws and sometimes horns on their foreheads.
Society[edit]
Purpleborns, especially humankins, are much more civilized and smarter than their orcish ancestors. They live together with humans, who helped them to become part of a civilization. That is why the majority of all purpleborns are humankins.
Purpleborn Names[edit]
Humankins and Dragonkins often share the same names as humans due to their political connections to humans. Some tend to use greek or mythical names. Orcish names are rare and more used by Half-Orc-kins.
