Wizard Subclass

Wizards who have innate psionic skills often employ them to augment their spellcasting abilities, filling any gaps their study of arcane can present. By regularly challenging their psyche and going through strenuous mental excersices, they train their mind to be a weapon in and on itself, capable of greatly enchancing their magical skills and infusing their spells with more power and greater versatility than other wizards. Psionics traditions are passed in teacher-student relation, as showing the right way and the right feeling is far superior to any descriptions found in books.

Psionic Power

At 2nd level, you harbor a wellspring of psionic energy within yourself. This energy is represented by your Psionic Energy dice, which are each a d6. You have a number of these dice equal to twice your proficiency bonus, and they fuel various psionic powers you have, which are detailed below.

Some of your powers expend the Psionic Energy die they use, as specified in a power's description, and you can't use a power if it requires you to use a die when your dice are all expended. You regain all your expended Psionic Energy dice when you finish a long rest. In addition, as a bonus action, you can regain one expended Psionic Energy die, but you can't do so again until you finish a short or long rest.

When you reach certain levels in this class, the size of your Psionic Energy dice increases: at 5th level (d8), 11th level (d10), and 17th level (d12).

The powers below use your Psionic Energy dice.

  • When you use your Arcane Recovery feature, you can expend one Psionic Energy die and the combined level of spellslots you can regain increases by your proficiency bonus.
  • When you cast a cantrip with a spell attack roll and miss, you can expend one Psionic Energy die and add the number rolled to the attack roll, potentially turning a miss into a hit.
  • When you are concentrating on a spell and take psychic damage, you can expend one Psionic Energy die to automatically succeed on concentration check.
Mental discipline

At 6th level, you have mastered new ways to strengthen your mind.

  • When you finish a long rest, you can expend one Psionic Energy die and additionally prepare a number of spells equal to the number rolled.
  • When you make an Intelligence saving throw and fail, you can use your reaction to expend one Psionic Energy die and add the number rolled to the saving throw, potentially turning failure into success.
Psychic Mirror

At 10th level, you grasp greater control over your psychic abilities.

  • When a creature within 60 ft. of you that you can see deal damage to you, you can use your reaction to expend one Psionic Energy die and deal the same amount of damage to that creature. The damage you deal is psychic damage.
  • When you expend a Psionic Energy die you gain temporary hit points equal to the number rolled or your Intelligence modifier, whichever is higher.
Third Eye

At 14th level, your mastery of psionic power give you limited insight into the events that are yet to be, and thread accordingly to lead to them, or stray from them.

  • When you roll your Psionic Energy die, you can roll twice and use either roll.
  • After a long rest you must roll your Psionic energy die, and depending on the outcome you gain new way of using your reaction, persisting until you finish your next long rest. If you rolled even, you can use your reaction to expend a Psionic Energy die and add your Intelligence modifier to any roll a creature that you can see makes within 60 feet of you. If you rolled odd, you can use your reaction to expend a Psionic Energy die and subtract your Intelligence modifier from any roll a creature that you can see makes within 60 feet of you.
