Protective Hilt (3.5e Equipment)

Weapons, expecially swords, may feature complex hilts with elaborated quillons, rings and guards. It is possible to put a protective hilt on a weapon with an extra cost. There are different types of protective hilts:
Light protective hilt: it grants a +1 bonus on opposed attack rolls made to resist disarm attempts and requires a +1 to Craft DC of masterwork component to be created. It has an additional cost of +10 gp.
Light-medium protective hilt:it grants a +2 bonus on opposed attack rolls made to resist disarm attempts and requires a +1 to Craft DC of masterwork component to be created. It has an additional cost of +20 gp.
Medium-heavy protective hilt: it grants a +3 bonus on opposed attack rolls made to resist disarm attempts and requires a +2 to Craft DC of masterwork component to be created. It has an additional cost of +30 gp.
Heavy protective hilt: it grants a +4 bonus on opposed attack rolls made to resist disarm attempts and requires a +2 to Craft DC of masterwork component to be created. It has an additional cost of +40 gp.
Basket hilt: it grants a +4 bonus on opposed attack rolls made to resist disarm attempts and requires a +3 to Craft DC of masterwork component to be created. It has an additional cost of +50 gp. You can use the feat "Basket hilt fencing stance" to gain a +1 to AC if you are wielding a basket-hilted weapon you are proficient with.
