Professional Thrower (5e Subclass)
Professional Thrower[edit]
Rogue Subclass
Professional throwers are rogues skilled in the use of small thrown weapons to take down their opponents. They rely on thrown knives and darts due to the ease of concealment they offer, and the inconspicuous and nonthreatening appearance they bear. You can wander in secured places with a dart sewed inside the padding of a cloak, or thrown knives into your boots, for a mission of assassination or a dangerous meeting, in a way impossible for crossbows, and keeping you outside danger in a way a sword never could.
- Practiced Hands
Starting at 3rd Level, you can use the Bonus Action granted by your Cunning Action to make a Dexterity (Sleight of Hand) check, use your thieves’ tools to disarm a trap or open a lock, or take the Use an Object action.
- All In The Wrist
Also at 3rd level, you have mastery with throwing weapons, and it shows. Your normal and long ranges for thrown weapons are increased by 20 feet, and you gain +1 to attack rolls when attacking a target within 20 feet of you.
Also, making ranged attacks against a target within 5 feet of you does not impose disadvantage.
- Snap Judgment
A professional must be able to defend himself at any moment's notice. At 9th level, when you use your Cunning action, you may make an attack with a throwing weapon as part of that bonus action.
- Calculated Throw
Your profound experience with thrown weapons allows you to aim for the vital areas of your targets. Starting at 13th level, you cause additional 1d6 damage on your Sneak Attacks with thrown weapons.
Additionally, when you take the Attack action and only make ranged attacks with light thrown weapons, you can attack twice, rather than once.
- Even the Odds
Starting at 17th level, you can clear a field of enemies with your fast throws. You can use your action to make a ranged attack with a thrown weapon against any number of creatures within 10 feet of a point you can see within your weapon’s range. You must have a weapon for each target, as normal, and you make a separate attack roll for each target.
You can draw light weapons you are throwing as part of the attack, when you use this action, without the need for an Use an Object action.
