Creating a Privateer Rogue[edit]

Class Features[edit]

A privateer's class features at 1st level are:

- First Strike
- Privateer Tactics
- Privateer Weapon Talent or Privateer Sharpshooter Talent
- Rogue's Trick
- Sneak Attack

First Strike:

At the start of an encounter, you have combat advantage against any creatures that have not yet acted in that encounter.

Privateer Tactics:

A privateer is intelligent and cunning. A character with the Privateer Tactics class feature chooses one of the following options:

Artful Dodger: The rogue gains a bonus to AC against opportunity attacks equal to the rogue's Charisma modifier. The rogue also gets extra benefits from fox's gambit, opening move, positioning strike, bait and switch, rogue's luck, and other powers that list extra benefits for the Artful Dodger option.

Cunning Sneak: The rogue no longer incurs a penalty to Stealth checks for moving more than 2 squares. The rogue incurs a −5 instead of −10 penalty to Stealth checks for running. The rogue can make a Stealth check to become hidden after a movement ending at least 3 squares away from where it started, if the rogue ends the movement with concealment or cover other than cover provided by being behind allies. The rogue also gets extra benefits from distracting shot, skip the rock, and other powers that list extra benefits for the Cunning Sneak option.

Sneak Shooter: The rogue gains proficiency with one simple or martial ranged weapon of their choice, and the die size of this weapon is increased by 1. They also gain combat advantage with a ranged attack to any enemy who is adjacent to an ally of the privateer.

(Brutal Scoundrel and Ruthless Ruffian are unavailable to the Privateer subclass of Rogue, as they favour finesse over force.)

Privateer Weapon Talent

A Privateer that chooses this weapon talent gains a +1 to attack rolls with one-handed melee weapons. He also gains a +1 to AC against adjacent enemies while holding a melee weapon in his off-hand. This bonus to AC increases to +2 at 11th level, and +3 at 21st level.

Privateer Sharpshooter Talent

A privateer that chooses this weapon talent gains a +1 to attack and damage rolls with ranged attacks. Privateer's also gain far shot as a bonus feat. At 11th level, the bonus increases to +2, and at 21st level it increases to +3.

Rogue's Trick

Privateer's gain 2 of these tricks at-will. Original trick's can be found here [1]. With the addition of the Privateer class, you have the choice of 1 extra Trick:

Double Agent's Trick Rogue Utility 1
Enemies second guess your intentions, are you friend or foe?
At-Will Star.gif Martial, Move Action, Personal
Move Action Effects: Enemies you can see
Effect: Move up to your speed, and make a Bluff check. If successful, enemies reassess you as an ally and will not attack you.
Special: Effect ends once you attack an enemy.

Sneak Attack

Once per turn, when a rogue with the Sneak Attack class feature attacks with a hand crossbow, shortbow, or weapon from the light blade or sling weapon groups, and hits an enemy granting combat advantage to the rogue, the attack deals extra damage. This extra damage is 2d6, or 3d6 from 11th to 20th level, or 5d6 at 21st level and above.
