Physical Description

Pridestalkers are leonine-lupine hybrids in human form, more beast than man. Their fur comes in a variety of pelt colors, usually turning gray or white as they age. Some have tiger stripes along the body. There are also those what are born with white hair, who are considered special. They have blue eyes and sharp claws and fangs, but are also muscular to wield heavy weapons. They usually stand between 6 and 7 feet tall and weigh between 300 and 600 lbs. They mature at the age of 13 and usually live up to 70 years of age.

History

Pridestalkers are so named due to their age-old craft of hunting lions. It is believed they were humans who had taken on properties of the creature which they hunted for so long. Their bodies had been tempered with age old rituals using the entrails of the pride members they slew, granting themselves and their tribe the strength and senses of the majestic beasts. Eventually, they became these creatures, living subliminally as beast men. Pridestalkers have long roamed the savannahs and safaris, usually keeping to their craft of hunting the big cats to keep their own senses and abilities honed. Eventually, they set their sights for other prey, in far flung lands. And so, they walk among the many other races of this world, always looking to further their powers.

Society

Hailing from hunters of the famed beasts, pridestalkers are famous hunters who revel in the chase and pursuit of prey. They practice insane amounts of patience and investment in their skills of the hunt, always looking to improve. Their tribes are very scattered, usually consisting of hunters who venture off alone for the most part. They convene to share and boast of their hunts. Every month, they honor their quarry by absorbing the essence of the animal into their bodies, thus making use of its life force and empowering their own. While their transformation can no longer be undone, they do this continually out of tradition. Pridestalkers are taught at a young age to be persistent and never let the prey get away. They must honor the rule of the wild by letting no part of their hunts go to waste, and allowing nature to run its course however it may. That being said, pridestalkers have a tendency to be rather belligerent and confrontational, leading to the perception of them being a violent race.

Pridestalker Names

Pridestalkers like titles, which are granted to only the most accomplished of the hunting craft. They despise names of weakness.

Male: Rengar, Silewt, Torax, Caragorr

Female: Fera, Gari, Terroar, H'aanit

Titles: Throat Ripper, The Scar, Gut Slasher, Bone Crusher

Pridestalker Traits

People who took on the powers of majestic beasts
Ability Score Increase. Your Dexterity or Strength score increases by 2, and your Constitution score increases by 1.
Age. Pridestalkers mature in their mid teens and live to be around 70 years old.
Alignment. Pridestalkers tend towards chaotic alignments since they do whatever it takes to claim the kill when they spot prey.
Size. Pridestalkers are between 6 and 7 feet tall. Your size is Medium.
Speed. Your base walking speed is 30 feet.
Darkvision. You can see in dim light within 60 feet of you as if it were bright light, and in darkness as if it were dim light. You can't discern color in darkness, only shades of gray.
Claws. Because of your sharp claws, you have a climbing speed of 20 feet. In addition, your claws are natural weapons, which you can use to make unarmed strikes. If you hit with them, you deal slashing damage equal to 1d6 + your Strength modifier, instead of the bludgeoning damage normal for an unarmed strike.
Primal Leap. You have advantage in Dexterity (Acrobatics) checks that relate to jumping.
Skills of the Hunt. You are proficient two skills of your choice from the following: Survival, Stealth, Nature, Perception.
Natural Hunter. You are not affected by difficult terrain in forest or jungle environments.
Languages. You can speak Common and Beast. Beast Speech is a language exclusive to beastfolk, derived from their own need for cultural identity and privacy. Beast Speech is simple, emphasizing many words involving the letter n. Words can have multiple but similar meanings, so it is a language where misinterpretation can easily occur.
