Warlock Subclass

Praised and worshipped by seamen, the god of storms has assisted those that were deemed worthy through various ways: bringing fortunate tidings, destroying enemy vessels with mighty whirlpools, and washing those that fell off their ships along to an island filled with nature’s bounty. A god that has been known for its love of adventure, but also not one to shirk away from a fight, Poseidon provides various skills related to the ocean, storms, and fighting with the ferocity of the winds.

Poseidon is therefore seen as a god who repays kindness twofold and punishes evil towards him 10-fold (chaotic neutral).

This god has deemed you worthy of his gifts but asks for various tasks to be completed. Failure to complete this task will cause you to receive a negative effect (unlucky, scurvy (1 lvl of fatigue, Hp damage, temporary weakness, etc.). the opposite is also true: you have received great bounties every time you did something for him (killed an enemy who worshipped his rival: find an island with a buried treasure. Help the mermaids to reach safety: get help from the mermaids once).

Receive many boons, and the tasks will become formidable to reflect your success, receive too many negatives, and live in fear that your life will be taken by this god displeased with your actions.

Expanded Spell list[edit]

Poseidon lets you choose from an expanded list of spells when you learn a warlock spell. The following spells are added to the warlock list for you.

Spell Level Spells
1st compelled duel, thunderous smite
2nd blur, gust of wind
3rd call lightning, sleet storm
4th control water, evard’s black tentacles
5th banishing smite, cone of cold

Eye of the Storm[edit]

Poseidon has instilled within you a keen sense for battle. Starting at level 1, you can use your reaction to make an attack against an enemy that has just attacked you (after their attack). You are a natural seaman, being able to read the waves and knowing what weather the clouds foretell.

Rage of the Storms[edit]

Starting at level 6, your patron teaches you how to adapt the aspect of the storm in your fighting style, giving you the ability to weave attacks between your enemies. As an action, you may imbue your body with a layer of wind, giving you AC +1 and an advantage on Dexterity saving throws for the duration of 3 turns. Additionally, for the duration, when you make a successful attack against an enemy, you may spend your bonus action to attack another enemy within 10 feet (if your remaining walking speed allows). Once you use this feature, you can’t use it again until you finish a long rest.

Bloodlust[edit]

Starting at 10th level, you harness the power that Poseidon used in battle. As an action, you may select up to 3 enemies within 30ft, with speed comparable to a whirlwind, you move between them, attacking a total of 4 times (4th attack is freely selectable), dealing an additional 1d6 slashing damage on each successful hit.

Once you use this ability, you may not use it again until you finish a long rest.

Thunder Skin[edit]

Poseidon imparts you the resistance of a god. Starting at level 14, you are not bothered at all by extreme cold. In addition, you have resistance to thunder damage and when a creature deals thunder damage to you, that creature takes the same amount of damage. Additionally, gain +2 Constitution.
