Phykke (5e Race)
From D&D Wiki
Phykkes[edit]
Phykkes are goblinoids, but with a sense of heart and honor.
Physical Description[edit]
Phykkes have scarlet red skin and dark hair. Their noses are smaller than conventional goblins. They are stronger than most other goblinoids in build, as they are stout. They are also shorter than hobgoblins, but taller than goblins. Their face, according to a comedian, isn't always pinched up like most other goblinoids, which are perpetually either angry or evil looking.
History[edit]
Phykkes are the spawn of a bugbear and a human. They were usually thrown aside to be raised by the wild due to their appearance being so frank. When one saw the red skin and form, he or she would be quick to call it just a goblin and run. As such, phykkes were considered an abomination which should not exist. Many phykkes ran for their lives from mobs, uncomprehending of their hate. They pondered why this fate fell upon them. Other goblinoids were greedily watching and wanted the phykkes to join their ranks against the humans. The phykkes took their hand, but, against all odds, slaughtered a good deal of the goblinoids as they slept. When the humans came upon the goblinoid hideout and discovered the massacre, the phykkes revealed themselves and proposed a truce to humans. The humans reluctantly saw an ally in the phykkes and an uneasy alliance was born.
Society[edit]
Since their alliance with the humans, phykkes have marketed themselves as friends to other races like elves and dwarves. They push for the agenda of defeating the evil goblinoids and pledge themselves to the cause to prove that they are indeed different. Phykke are perhaps a bit naive, but they do believe hard work and honesty breeds trust and beautiful friendships. As such, phykkes can be fast and steady friends.
In the cities where they live, phykkes are the minority. They are usually allotted a space in slums or ghettos alongside tieflings or other disliked races. Phykkes and tieflings get together quite well, being outcasts. The phykkes try to be optimistic and make the best of a bad situation. Many phykkes believe that one the wars against goblins are won, the phykke race will be acknowledged as good. However, some phykkes are culpable to slip to despair and harbor suspicion towards humans. It is not unbelievable for a phykke to desert to the other side as an informant. However, this is extremely rare, as most goblinoids are wary pf phykke by now and would kill them on sight.
