Phobians resemble spectral beings of pale, bluish light. They have long necks that can twist to better scare their opponents, with faces that resemble skeletons with glowing red eyes. Their bodies seem full and strong, but visually reveal the bones from within. This ectoplasmic matter wisps off them like pure energy and they emit soft light. Most phobians dress in the rags of battle, with clothes from the fallen, chains, and shattered armor.

History[edit]

From the old times of war, when gods fought among men, the god of war relished the tactics of fear more than anything else. It would inspire those who were truly courageous and spur them to bloody arms, and cull the weak. His two sons, the lesser gods of fear and terror, would follow in his chariot to collect the spoils. They loved picking off those who cowered and begged for their lives. Killing them would be too easy, and so they would instead infuse them with the essence of fear, creating a phobian. They are wiped of themselves, re-purposed into spectral beings as a gods tools.
Phobians have no semblance to whatever being they once were. They are only now foot soldiers, front line fighters for the god of war. They strike fear into enemies to weaken them for the berserk raiders behind them. After war is fought, they linger and remain, frightening the daylights out of survivors. Some are sent to be omens or even heralds of misfortune to come as emissaries of war-like destruction. They revere fear and terror, and the war which brings them. Whatever land they are sent to will soon see the horror which lies over the horizon.

Society[edit]

Phobians are actually quite quiet as creatures despite their violent creation and purpose. They bring about fear quite naturally, without need of excess. They know no fear, and fear nothing. As such, they are everything to fear. They are usually all connected back to the two gods who created them, and then sent out into the world while some remain in the god's armies. Phobians scare people by going places they would never dream of in their wildest nightmares. They dare to do what is thought to be suicidal, because fear means nothing to them. All that matters is that they spread it as much as they can in the name of their gods as the soldiers they were made to be.
When they are scouts, phobians usually do poorly assimilating into societies they are meant to visit. Their fearful aura is often discomforting, to say the least. This does not bother them usually, in the slightest. They are observed to be cold, unfeeling creatures which pain cannot stagger and threats cannot faze. Knowing they are expendable, they march forward into danger, which is usually a bit more than enough to psyche out the opposition. They are very goal-oriented, and will stop at nothing to do what they must.

Phobian Names[edit]

Phobians do not care for names usually. They also do not have care for genders. If a name is necessary, they usually take one in honor of the three concepts they hold most dear: war, terror and fear.

Names: Aret, Pharis, Boojwon, Deinus
