Path of the Monkey King (5e Subclass)
Primal Path Of The Monkey King[edit]
Barbarian Subclass
From the legends of Sun Wukong, of his legendary tales of conquering against gods and demons alike. He is the Monkey King, he who took the Ryuji Jingu Bangu and mastered all 72 Transformations, he who was born from the Stone of Destiny. You follow the path of this legendary warrior. This is your time to become a Monkey King.
- Fury Of The Monkey King
Starting at 3rd level, when raging, you can manifest the cunning and agility of the monkey. You can take the Disengage or Dash actions when you enter in rage, and as a bonus action each turn thereafter. When you do so, you gain a climbing speed equal to your current speed, and only take half damage from falling.
In addition, when you move, you can instead take two short movements by flying. Each movement is at half your speed, and you must end each one on a creature, solid object, or ground. If you do not, you fall and your movement ends.
- Ryuji Jingu Bangu
Starting at 6th level, your attacks made with polearms are considered magical for the purposes of overcoming resistances and immunity to non-magical damage.
In addition, when wielding a quarterstaff you cause 1d10 while wielding it in one hand, or 1d12 when wielding it in both hands.
- The 72 Transformations
Starting at 10th level, you learn the technique of transmutation of the monkey king, and can assume multiple forms. You can cast the alter self or polymorph spell, without using a spell slot or material components. When casting polymorph through this feature you can only target yourself, and you retain your Intelligence, Wisdom and Charisma scores.
After you cast either spell in this way, you can’t use this feature again until you finish a short or long rest.
- Defy Heaven and Hell
Starting at 14th level, you can channel energy that can destroy creatures from other planes. You cause additional 2d6 damage whenever you hit a aberration, celestial, fiend, fey or undead with your quarterstaff. You can cause this damage only once per turn.
In addition, you are immune to the frightened or charmed conditions.
