Path of the Marut[edit]

Barbarian Subclass

Some barbarians, strangely, choose to embrace the powers of Order. While anger and order would be paradoxical, their anger tends to take the form of directed anger, often focusing on a single task for hours at a time. Such barbarians seem to focus on perfected action, striking efficiently and swiftly.

Barbarians who follow Order do not generally carry much more than a weapon during a fight, seeing any more as unneeded bulk. Following the marut's actions, they often seek to destroy liches and similar immortal beings.

Calm Rage

Starting when you choose this path at level 3, your rage becomes more focused and calculated. When you use Reckless Attack, any creature you hit with an attack on your turn does not have advantage on attack rolls against you, as you take up a slightly more defensive stance towards them. In addition, you may cast and concentrate on spells with a target of self while raging.

Contractual Bond

Beginning at 6th level, you gain more power through your bonds and agreements. When you begin raging and as a bonus action on each of your subsequent turns, you may form a pact of assistance with a willing creature within 30 feet of you. When either you or that creature takes damage, you can use your reaction to swap places with them and make a single attack against the attacker.

In addition, you may make an attack of opportunity against the attacker without using a reaction if they move outside of your attack range.

Clockwork Eye

Beginning at 10th level, you have advantage on Wisdom (Insight) checks to discern lies and Intelligence (Investigation) checks to detect illusions or disguises. In addition, you can cast zone of truth as an aura around yourself once per day. Constitution is your spellcasting stat when you use this ability, and any creatures who unwillingly fail the save must answer the first question asked of them.

Temporal Tantrum

Beginning at 14th level, your strikes become infused with slowing force. When you hit a creature with a melee attack, you may choose to have them become slowed, as the spell slow, except it only lasts for 1 round.

You may use this a number of times equal to your proficiency modifier, and you regain all these uses when you finish a short rest.
