Path of the Flagellant[edit]

Barbarian Subclass

You are a hardy individual, and you have discovered an immense power within yourself. While most get progressively worse as they feel their life leaving their body, you instead are at your peak when you are near death. By removing the useless vitality that only burdens you, you are able to find the rage within; a rage that fuels you far beyond death. It is an undeniably unpleasant and painful process, this uncovering of true power, but it is well worth the risk.

Inner Strength

At 3rd level you have learned the difficult trade of making oneself stronger by making oneself weaker. Your rage damage increases by one for every ten hit points you have below your maximum amount of hit points. Additionally, when you successfully hit a creature while raging, you regain one fourth of the damage dealt as temporary hit points. Temporary hit points gained in this way are removed when your rage ends. Temporary hit points gained in this way stack as normal hit points do, but cannot excede half your hit point maximum.

Moreover, when you take damage, you may choose for the damage to affect only your hit points or only your temporary hit points.

Crimson Vitality

At 6th level, you’ve turned your own demise into another's victory. By successfully making an attack roll against yourself, any friendly creatures within 15 feet of you regain an amount of hit points equal to a roll of the affected creatures hit dice. The amount of hit dice rolled is equal to the amount of successful attack rolls you make against yourself. You cannot heal yourself in this fashion.

Additionally, if you are reduced to 0 hit points, or otherwise knocked unconscious, you remain conscious if you still possess temporary hit points. When this occurs, you take one level of exhaustion.

Unmoving in Resolve

Beginning at 10th level, you let nothing stand in your way. If you are reduced to 0 hit points, or otherwise knocked unconscious, you take none of the damage afflicted. You can do this once, after which you must complete a long rest in order to do so again.

Additionally, you may add your proficiency bonus to death saving throws.

Unflinching in Pursuit

Beginning at 14th level, you bear through any pain. While raging, your hit points cannot be lower than 1, unless the damage is inflicted through a critical hit, or if the amount of damage dealt is equal to twice your current amount of hit points + your temporary hit points.
