Path of the Devourer[edit]
Barbarian Path
Some ancient cultures believed that devouring another creature could give you its powers and characteristics. The Devourers unearthed the truth behind those legends. Barbarians who follow this path learn how to consume the heart of monsters and defeated foes to absorb their powers, becoming as powerful as the powerful creatures they hunt.
- Relentless Hunter
At 3rd level, you are an expert in tracking and killing the prey you are about to devour. You gain proficiency with the Survival skill.
In addition, choose one type of creature. If you choose humanoid, choose two subtypes. You have Advantage on Wisdom (Survival) checks to track creatures from that type, and on Intelligence checks to recall information about them.
- Heart Devour
Starting at 3rd level, you can devour the heart of a creature you've slayin within the last minute. To devour a heart, you must spend your entire turn (you can't take actions, reactions or move) . The creature must have a CR equal to a third of your barbarian's level (minimum of 1) in order of your to benefit of the heart.
When you enter in rage, you can choose to gain the properties of the last creature you have consumed. You gain that creature's AC (if provenient of Natural Armor), Movement, Resistances, Immunities, Condition Immunities, Senses, Traits and Actions. You don't gain the creature's legendary actions or legendary resistances, spell slots or class features.
If you have devoured the heart of a creature for longer than 8 hours, you can no longer benefit from it.
- Mutant Body
At 6th level, when you devour a humanoid heart, you can assume its form, as if you were under the effects of alter self. This also gives you the creatures recent memories - everything that creature lived within the last 7 days.
You also gain that creature's Strength, Dexterity and Constitution scores, alongside with any skills related to those ability scores, and must use them rather than your own.
You can use this feature a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus, and regain your uses of it after finishing a long rest.
- Beast Heart
At 10th level, you are able to assume the form of beasts you devour. When you devour the heart of a beast with the CR limit of your Heart Devour feature, you can cast polymorph on yourself, without using material components or spell slots. You retain your barbarian class features and your Intelligence, Wisdom and Charisma scores.
Once you use this feature, you can't use it again until you finish a short or long rest.
- Memorized Aspect
At 14th level, your body memorizes how to assume an aspect for longer. You can now have a number of forms memorized equal to your Constitution modifier (minimum of 1). You can always assume the properties of those creatures as if you had devoured their hearts.
