Path of the Colossus[edit]
Barbarian Subclass
Barbarians following the path of the colossus learn to imbue their body with the power of giant runes, allowing them to enhance their body beyond their normal limits.
- Rune Inscription
At the 3rd level, you learn to inscribe runes into your body, granting you bonuses when you activate your rage. When you activate your rage, you grow to Large size, your size doubling in all dimensions and your weight being multiplied by 8. If you do not have enough room to double in size, you become as large as the space allows. The damage bonus granted by your rage also increases by 1.
Additionally, you choose 2 runes from the table below, which grant you additional bonuses during your rage. Whenever you complete a long rest, you may swap your choice of runes.
Rune | Effect | |
---|---|---|
Fire | Melee attacks you make deal an additional 1d6 fire damage, increasing to 2d6 at the 10th level. | |
Cloud | You may use your reaction to increase your AC against a single melee attack made against you by +2. | |
Frost | When you first activate your rage, you gain temporary hit points equal to your Barbarian level + your Constitution modifier. | |
Stone | You have advantage on saving throws against being charmed, frightened, or stunned. | |
Hill | Piercing, slashing, and bludgeoning damage from non-magical weapons you take is reduced by 2, increasing to 3 at the 10th level. | |
Storm | You may make attacks of opportunity on creatures that enter your melee attack range. | |
- Giant Soul
At the 6th level, the effects of your giant runes begin to permanently change your body. You are considered one size larger form the purpose of determining the weight you can lift, push, pull, or carry, and become Medium size if you are Small. Additionally, your height increases by 3d4 + 4 inches. If you were Small size before gaining this feature, double this roll.
- Titan
At the 10th level, the bonus to your rage damage granted by Rune Inscription increases to 2. Additionally, you have advantage on all intimidation checks you make against creatures that are at least one size category smaller than you.
- Runic Colossus
At the 14th level, you can fully awaken the power of your runes, gaining the ability to maintain your large size indefinitely. You may use a bonus action to gain the size increase of your Rune Inscription feature without activating your rage. This effect lasts until you either dismiss it with a bonus action, or are reduced to 0 hit points
While raging, your size becomes Huge, multiplying your size and weight by the previous amounts again. While Huge, your melee attack range increases by 5 feet, and your walking speed increases by 10 feet.
