Path of Ragnarok[edit]

Barbarian Subclass (D&D 5e)

The Path of Ragnarok is a brutal path followed by barbarians who channel the inevitable end of the world—the cataclysmic events of Ragnarök. These warriors are bound to the prophecy of destruction and rebirth, embodying the forces that will tear the world asunder. Their rage is not only a weapon but a manifestation of the world’s final days: the wrath of the serpent, the fury of wolves, the storm of the gods, and the promise of renewal through fire and ruin.

Barbarians who walk this path know that their destiny is to bring about destruction, to be consumed by the flames of Ragnarok, and to rise again as part of the world's rebirth. They become living symbols of the forces that will tear down the old and bring forth the new.

Wrath of Jörmungandr

At 3rd level, you gain the ability to channel the power of Jörmungandr, the Midgard Serpent, whose twisting form is said to encircle the world and whose death marks the beginning of Ragnarök. When you enter a rage, you invoke the serpent's wrath.

Serpent’s Fang: When you enter a rage, your reach with melee attacks increases by 5 feet, and your attacks deal an additional 1d6 poison damage. Also, whenever a creature within 5 feet hits you with a melee attack, they must make a Constitution saving throw (DC = 8 + your proficiency bonus + your Constitution modifier) or take 1d6 poison damage.
Venomous Aura: As an Action, you can emanate poisonous energy in a 5-foot radius around you. Creatures within this area must make a Constitution saving throw (DC 8 + your proficiency bonus + your Constitution modifier) or be poisoned until the start of your next turn.
The Thunder of Thor

At 6th level, you channel the storm fury of Thor, the god of thunder. While you are raging, your melee attacks are imbued with thunderous power. On a hit, your melee weapon attacks can cause Thunder damage, rather than its normal type. If you do so, the force of the strike pushes the target 5 feet away from you.

In addition, as a bonus action after you cause Thunder damage with a melee weapon attack, you can release a burst of thunderous energy in a 15-foot radius around you. All creatures in the area must make a Constitution saving throw (DC 8 + your proficiency bonus + your Constitution modifier) or take thunder damage equal to your barbarian level and be knocked prone. On a successful save, they take half damage and are not knocked prone. Once you use this feature, you cannot use it again until you finish a short or long rest.

The Wolves of Fenris

At 10th level, you tap into the fury of Fenrir, the great wolf destined to devour Odin during Ragnarök. You gain the following benefits:.

  • When you drop to half hit points or fewer, your movement speed increases by 10 feet, and your melee weapon attacks score a critical hit on a roll of 19 or 20.
  • As an action, you can let out a thunderous howl, invoking the primal force of Fenrir. All creatures within 30 feet must make a Wisdom saving throw (DC 8 + your proficiency bonus + your Constitution modifier) or be frightened of you until the end of your next turn.
The Death of the Gods

At 14th level, you unlock the ultimate expression of Ragnarök—the moment of cataclysm when the gods themselves fall. You embody the final battle, a cataclysmic clash that will shake the world to its core. When you are killed or drop to 0 hit points and fall unconscious while raging, you can use your reaction to cause a massive eruption of divine energy. Every creature within a 30-foot radius must make a Dexterity saving throw (DC 8 + your proficiency bonus + your Constitution modifier) or take 5d6 fire damage and 5d6 thunder damage, as if the world itself is collapsing around you. Creatures that succeed on the saving throw take half damage.

After using this feature, you can immediately make one melee weapon attack with Advantage before you fall unconscious. If you are not instantly killed when you use this feature, you automatically succeed on your first death saving throw.

Once you use this feature, you cannot use it again until you finish a long rest.
