Pact of the Shell (5e Class Feature)

Pact of the Shell[edit]
At third level the user of this boon may use their action to summon a mass of darkness to flow over their body (Symbols of the user's patron appear in the darkness) creating a shell of darkness which acts like a second skin. While the form is active and you are not wearing armor your ac is equal to your 10 + Proficiency bonus + Charisma. The user also gains resistance to all Psychic, Radiant and Necrotic damage. The shell can be used equal to the users Charisma modifier and proficiency bonus. The form lasts until the user dismisses it as a bonus action or is knocked unconscious and the form lasts for 1 minute per character level.
Pact Invocations[edit]
- Eldritch Eyes
- Prerequisite: Pact of the Shell, 3rd level
Once the user gains this invocation they gain 60 feet of darkvision, if the user already has darkvision their darkvision is extended by 60 feet. The user of this invocation gains the ability to sprout eldritch eye symbols anywhere on their shell. Because of this they cannot be surprised and have advantage on perception and investigation which rely on sight. The user also gains advantage against being blinded. At 8th level the user can no longer become blinded. At 11th level the user gains truesight with a range equal to your darkvision.
- Eldritch Arms
- Prerequisite: Pact of the Shell, 11th level
When the user gains this Invocation their limbs seem to stretch while the shell is active. The user may stretch their arms by 5 feet × proficiency bonus. (Note this extends how far away the user may attack, grab items or cast spells) The extended limb is fully in control of the user and may bend around objects. The user may transfer the stretch from their arm into another extending the reach of the limb it is transferred to. The user may only use this ability twice per short rest.
- Eldritch Legs
- Prerequisite: Pact of the Shell
When the user's shell is active they gain the monk fast movement feature which levels with the characters level. The user may also dash as a bonus action twice per short rest. At 9th level the user is always considered dashing and may no longer take the dash action unless they have a separate ability, other than this one, that allows them to dash as a bonus action. Once per long rest the user may double their move speed as a free action.
- Eldritch Tentacles
- Prerequisite: Pact of the Shell
The user may now sprout shadowy tentacles from their shell. The user may only sprout a number of tentacles equal to their proficiency bonus. While the tentacles are active the user may use them like regular arms. The user may also, while the tentacles are out, dual wield two handed weapons by holding the weapon with their hand and a tentacle (the user must be proficient in the weapon being used).
