Pact-Borne (5e Subclass)
Pact-Borne[edit]
sorcerer Subclass
Throught history, the promise of a newborn as payment for the fufillment of an eldritch pact has become a despicable yet profitable economy, and not one without consequence. Though the fate of these promised children usually ends up being fatal for the child, there are times when a child is born simply endowed with the power of the entity their life was promised to. In situations such as these, the Pact-Borne child enters into the world with otherworldy power, usually to the detriment of the life of the child's parents. Though they can be in the service of their "patron", Pact-Borne often simply recieve guidance and purpose from the entity that has granted them power their entire life.
- Borne Patron
At 1st level, choose an otherworldly patron from among the patrons available to warlocks.
When you reach the appropriate level, you may learn any spell listed on the expanded spell list for your chosen otherworldly patron. They are counted as sorcerer spells for you, and do not count towards your known spells. The spell must be of a level for which you have spell slots.
Additionally, you gain your chosen patron's 1st-level benefits. However, you do not gain any armor proficiencies from your patron. You may use your sorcerer level in place of your warlock level for your class featres.
- Beholden Pact
Also at 1st level, you may choose a pact boon from among those available to warlocks.
Additionally, Choose one of your known sorcerer cantrips that deals damage. You can add your spellcasting ability modifier to that spell’s damage rolls. Whenever you gain a sorcerer level, you can change which of your damaging sorcerer cantrips benefits from this invocation. You may use this cantrip in place of invocations that require the Eldritch Blast cantrip. If you gain the Agonizing Blast invocation, you may instead split the cantrip into separate attack rolls for each die of damage the spell deals. For example, an 11th level sorcerer casting fire bolt could make 3 spell attack rolls dealing 1d10 fire damage each, while a 5th level sorcerer could only make two attack rolls, dealing 1d10 fire damage each.
- Arcane Invocations
At 6th level, the guidance of your patron has expanded your mind. You may learn a number of eldritch invocations equal to your proficiency bonus + your Charisma modifier. You may only learn invocations with a prerequisite based on spells known, level, patron, or pact boon if you meet those prerequisites. warlock level prerequisites can be treated as your sorcerer level. Whenever you gain a level in this class, you may choose one of the invocations you know and replace it with another, following the same restrictions.
Additionally, when you finish a short rest, you may regain a number of sorcery points equal to your Charisma modifier + half your sorcerer level (Rounded down). You may also use expend sorcery points in place of spell slots to cast spells and use features listed in your invocations.
- Upheld Pact
At 6th level, you gain the 6th level benefits of your chosen patron. You may use your sorcerer level in place of your warlock level for your class featres.
- Honoured Pact
At 14th level, you gain the 10th level benefits of your chosen patron. You may use your sorcerer level in place of your warlock level for your class featres.
