Physical Description[edit]

Ornns are stout, elemental beings resembling mountainous creatures. Their bodies are covered in rugged, rocky skin, and they possess large, imposing horns protruding from their heads. Despite their formidable appearance, they move with a deliberate grace, their movements echoing the steady march of the earth itself. Past this, the different dynasties of the necron race feature unique coloration to set each other apart. As most lords are too prideful for tactical advantage, they tend to put their people in flashy metals, decorated well to show other courts how well off they are.

History[edit]

Ornns are ancient beings, said to have been forged from the very fabric of the earth by primordial forces. They have existed since time immemorial, their presence woven into the myths and legends of countless civilizations. Legends speak of Ornns as guardians of the earth's secrets, keepers of ancient knowledge, and stalwart defenders against the forces of chaos.

Society[edit]

Ornns are solitary beings, often dwelling in remote, mountainous regions far from the hustle and bustle of civilization. They are revered as wise elders and skilled artisans by those who know of their existence. Ornns take great pride in their craftsmanship, spending countless hours honing their skills as blacksmiths and artisans.

Ability Score Increase. Your Constitution score increases by 2.

Alignment. Ornn-ytes typically adhere to a lawful alignment, valuing order, tradition, and discipline. However, individual Ornn-ytes may vary in their alignment, ranging from lawful good to lawful neutral or even lawful evil, reflecting the diversity of their beliefs and experiences.
Size. Ornn-ytes come in two distinct varieties: Ornn-Anvil Horns are typically medium or large in size, towering over others with their imposing stature, while Ornn-Magmaforge are medium or small, their frames sturdy and resilient.
Speed. This depends on your subrace.
Low-Light Darkvision. Your vision in darkness is limited, but you can see in dim light within 30 feet of you as if it were bright light, and in darkness as if it were dim light. You can't discern color in darkness, only shades of gray.
Elemental Form. Your creature type is elemental, reflecting your connection to the primal forces of the earth and the forge.
Forgeborn. Your body is infused with the essence of the forge, granting you an innate connection to smithing. You are proficient with blacksmith's tools and can craft simple metal objects during a short rest, provided you have access to common materials. The complexity and time required for crafting are at the discretion of the Dungeon Master. Additionally, your body has been strengthened by the flames of creation, giving you resistance to fire damage. Any creature that touches your heated extremity takes 2d4 fire damage. Heating your extremities to this temperature is a process you can do at will, but you can only use your forging ability in this way once per day.
Fiery Breath. As an action, you can exhale a blast of fiery breath in a 15-foot cone. Each creature in that area must make a Dexterity saving throw. The DC for this saving throw equals 8 + your Constitution modifier + your proficiency bonus. A creature takes 3d4 fire damage on a failed save, and half as much damage on a successful one. The damage increases as you reach higher levels: at 6th level (5d4), 11th level (7d4), and 16th level (9d4). You have a number of uses of this trait equal to your proficiency bonus, and you regain all expended uses after finishing a long rest.

You can discern the composition of earth and rocks through your elemental perception. This ability allows you to learn two cantrips related to earth, fire, or adapt one to metal, which you can cast as if they were innate spells. These cantrips do not count toward your total limit of known cantrips, and you cast them using your Constitution as your spellcasting modifier.
