Order of the Tapir Spirit[edit]

Mystic Subclass

The Order of the Tapir Spirit is a group of mystics that work alongside baku, protecting Kozakurans from the malevolent spirits that would haunt their dreams. They are commonly associated with Ababuio, the god of luck, because of the prosperous lives those who meet them lead. You simply care about guarding people from nightmares, with no desire to receive a reward for your service.

Baku appear quite intimidating to those who don't recognize them, but in Kozakura they are always seen as good luck charms. Its denizens will pray to them for relief from bad circumstances or for safety while traveling, and children often have talismans with pictures of baku on them that they sleep with.

Bonus Disciplines

At 1st level, you learn two additional psionic disciplines of your choice. They must be chosen from among the Immortal disciplines.

Eater of Nightmares

At 1st level, you are adept at protecting yourself from nightmares, to the point where you can feed on them. You are immune to the frightened condition. When you are subjected to a saving throw against an effect that would cause you to become frightened, it instead heals you a number of hit points equivalent to the effect's DC. If you are already at or reach your hit point maximum, you gain temporary hit points equal to the excess healing.

Dream Shield

Starting at 3rd level, you have learned to shield those around you from nightmares. All friendly creatures within 60 feet of you have advantage on saving throws against being frightened, are immune to exhaustion from magical means, and cannot be put to sleep or affected in their sleep by another creature by magical means.

Good Luck Charm

Starting at 6th level, your ability to banish evil spirits from dreams is also helpful for warding off malicious spirits of bad luck. When another creature within 60 feet of you fails a saving throw or ability check, they can reroll the die. They must use the new result instead. You can use this feature a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus. You regain any expended uses when you finish a long rest.

Chimeric Form

Starting at 14th level, you have embraced the hybrid nature of the baku. Your creature type changes to monstrosity, and you can maintain concentration on two psionic disciplines or two different effects of the same discipline at once. If you are forced to drop concentration, you must end concentration on both effects.
